Dagmar and the Seductones
Friends Dagmar and the Seductones, played at the Hot Harbor Saturday Night Concert, June 30, 2007, and Celebrate America Sundays, July 15, 2007, both part of the Harborplace Summer Concert Series. They were rockin' the Baltimore Inner Harbor waterfront at the beautiful outdoor Harborplace Amphitheater located at Harbor Place and The Gallery.
This June 30th photo safari was unplanned, using a small digital camera I happen to have on hand. After some cropping and resizing, the photos are at best web worth.
The July 15th was a little better planned: prosumer 3 CCD video cam, tripod with LANC control, and boom mike. However, all didn't go as well as intended. For the video, while I have a high angle on the pseudo stage, I couldn't avoid the passerbys who walked into the frame. Also, with the lack of a fluid head, there was occasional pan motion jert. On the audio front, the directional mike picked up the engine rumble of the water taxis that coursed in and out behind the stage, though it was not noticeable when the band volume was up. I also did have a wind screen, so wind noise was occasionally noticeable. I located myself next to the mixer board tent, which almost flew off during a gust of wind, almost taking my camera gear with it.
The biggest problem with July 15th was the heat. Bob wilted to the point he had to play in the shade of the left stage speakers, completely out of the shot from the second set on. Dagmar donned a ball cap which was distracting. Bryan was suffering but George seemed to be fine with the heat.
Harborplace was a nice gig but the summer heat took its toll. Kevin Beacon played later that evening at the nearby NetFlix stage which had a real stage and was tented.
